The State
Quarters series is the most popular coin collection in the world. It
started in 1999, and each year until 2008 five different coins will be
issued to honor five different states.
By the time the series ends, all
50 states will have been featured on their own unique State Quarters.
Now, for the first time, a select few State Quarters have been officially
licensed to feature the colorized portraits of Hall of Fame legends.
DiMaggio played for the New York Yankees and was the American League MVP
in 1939, 1940, and 1947, was named to the All-Star team in every year he
played (1936-1951), and set a record in 1941 by hitting safely in 56
straight games.
He was named to the Hall of Fame in 1955. His image is
featured on a New York State Quarter. |
